Memory Options:
The x3500 M2
supports up to 64GB of memory in 16 DIMM sockets. The
server supports industry-standard, 800, 1066, or 1333 MHz,
PC3-10600R-999 (single-rank or dual-rank) double-data-rate 3
(DDR3), registered, synchronous dynamic random-access memory (SDRAM)
dual inline memory modules (DIMMs) with error correcting code (ECC).
Memory channel DIMM connectors:
Channel 0 : 1, 2, 3, 9, 10, 11
Channel 1: 4, 5, 6, 12, 13, 14
Channel 2: 7, 8, 15, 16
Installed microprocessors DIMM connector population sequence:
Microprocessor socket 1: 3, 6, 8, 2, 5,
7, 1, 4
Microprocessor socket 2 : 11, 14, 16, 10, 13, 15, 9,

The following rules apply to single-rank and
dual-rank DDR3 DIMM speed as it
relates to the number of DIMMs in a channel:
– When you install 1 DIMM per channel, the memory runs at 1333 MHz
– When you install 2 DIMMs per channel, the memory runs at 1066 MHz
– When you install 3 DIMMs per channel, the memory runs at 800 MHz
– All channels in a server run at the fastest common frequency.
– Mixing registered and unbuffered DIMMs is not supported

The optional IBM ServeRAID-MR10i SAS/SATA controller can be
installed only in its dedicated connector, PCI slot 1, on the
system board. The IBM

IBM is announcing the new IBM Reseller
Option Kit (ROK) program. The ROK program authorizes
qualifying IBM Distributors to buy selected IBM OEM
licenses of select Microsoft Windows Server operating
systems for installation on IBM System x and BladeCenter
Servers or for sale to IBM Business Partners (Resellers)
for installation on IBM System x and BladeCenter
Servers. Distributors can also install the ROK
themselves if requested by the Reseller or if they want
to act as a Reseller in order to sell IBM System x and
Bladecenter Servers installed with the ROK directly to
customers. This program delivers one-stop shopping and
flexibility to our distributors, allowing them to buy
their Microsoft Windows Server operating systems and IBM
System x and BladeCenter servers from one source.
